job description

Specifically, your role and responsibilities are to: 

  • Act as main point of contact for the business development team with respect to real estate and title matters, with focus on new option agreements, lease agreements and purchase and sale agreements;
  • Review and assess these transactions documents, flag issues and drive them to conclusion directly with the business developer and/or with the General Counsel / external law firm;
  • Analyze title documents and legal descriptions of property (including surveys and title commitments);
  • Assist in working through title issues and exceptions, prepare or review title curative documents (Subordination and Non-Disturbance Agreements, Easement Agreements, etc.)
  • Assist in closings of financings and M&A transactions, manage lenders’ requirements for title and real estate matters and coordinate with title insurance company;
  • Coordinate notarization, recording, sending documents to relevant towns or stakeholders;
  • Facilitate communication between the internal team and external parties where needed during closings and on matters under responsibility;
  • Answer questions and escalate issues and concerns;
  • Assist the GC with other corporate legal matters as needed such as non-disclosure agreements or other commercial contracts, corporate governance, drafting of certificates, consents, guarantees.
  • Assist the GC in setting up processes and efficiencies for the business as it relates to tracking and monitoring commitments, renewal dates and other legal obligations.

main requirements

  • College degree and/or paralegal certificate required.
  • You have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a real estate paralegal.
  • You are highly organized and able to prioritize  and  effectively manage your time across projects and deadlines.
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication abilities, and a keen attention to detail.  You are a team player and ready for the challenge of working in a fast-growing and fast paced environment.
  • You are fluent in English.   As we are French-owned company, some proficiency in French is a plus but in no way is a requirement.
  • You are convinced that renewable energy will play a major role in the future and you want to be a player in the transition to clean energy.
